About BookendsAI

Book recommendations, reader paths, and a browsable atlas for finding the next book that actually fits.

Data sources and covers

Book cover images are used as contextual identifiers. We store reviewed cover references such as Open Library IDs, Google Books volume IDs, or an official publisher image URL. When a source fails, the page tries the next reviewed source before showing a BookendsAI title card.

Open Library

Cover metadata and public book records come from Open Library where available. A small reviewed set uses Google Books or official author and publisher sources when Open Library has no usable cover.

Human review

Metadata helps the atlas find neighborhoods, but page copy and recommendations still need human review before they become full BookendsAI pages.

BookendsAI is free to use. Right now, Amazon affiliate links are the only way it earns money: if a guide helps and you are buying a book anyway, using our link supports the atlas at no extra cost to you.
